I taught three classes today at Vassar and was able to leave school at 4:45 PM so I could go home and pick up Catherine (Murphy) and head to the city (NYC). We got to the opening about 25 minutes before it ended. The opening was from 6 to 8, and dinner started at 8:00 PM. Both Arlene Schechet and Merlin James had openings that night at Sikkema Jenkins. Merlin had invited us for dinner. See next

Marta Renzi emailed us to ask if we wanted to go see a dance performance by the choreographer John Jasperse at Bard College. They got the tickets and we arranged to meet at The Corner for dinner. This is the restaurant and hotel that was bought and redesigned by Brice and Helen Marden about 3 or 4 years ago. We had dinner there not long after it opened and were disappointed by the food. This was near the end of dinner, quite spread from the front opening of the tent back through the rest of the tables. That was because there was a dancer dancing just outside the tent entrance. We all stood up to be able to watch. After dancing for a while the dancer moved to the right and took a little while for the people sitting at the entrance to realize they were supposed to follow

Judy came over here and then Cathy, Ben, Judy and I headed off to the Culinary Institute of America to have dinner at the Egg. The Egg is the student cafeteria which is also open to the public. We didn't realize that most of the stations are closed on weekends. So instead we went to Mizu Sushi in Hyde Park for dinner.

Catskill Art and Office is closed on Sundays, so I panicked that Janice would end up coming all the way here and we wouldn't have Cathy's work to give her. I called Catskill Art and Office in Woodstock, which is open on Sunday
