Title: Winter Solstice Party at Gret Starett Smith and David Levi Strauss' 4 of 6 - THIS VIDEO PLAYS BEST IN SAFARI & FIREFOX
Caption: Gret and Levi have had a winter solstice party every year for the last 25 years. I don't remember what year we started coming to the party. It might be on this site, and if not, should be and hopefully will be. Catherine (Murphy) and I have usually met up with Tom Nozkowski and Joyce Robins at their house and followed them to Gret and Levi's. Even though it is not that far from their own house, it is hard to find. Tom and Joyce were going to the party early because Cas (Nozkowski), Hannah (Boz), and Rocket (Nozkowski) were going as well, and they had to leave early because Rocket's bedtime was 7:00PM. So we went by ourselves and got pretty close before we were lost. We drove around in the dark, up and down hills. We called Tom, and he was helpful until he wasn't. We were in front of someone's house when I turned around and saw another car. Assuming that these people could be looking for Gret and Levi's place, I drove up behind the car, got out of ours, and walked up to the car window. Mark Epstein was in the driver's seat. He said he could lead us to the party and did get us closer. We wound up on a hill to the side of a house that was not Gret and Levi's. As Mark and Arlene (and others) drove away, a large dog ran out of the house, followed by a large man. The man was quite helpful and told us exactly how to get where we were going. Mark was waiting for us a bit down the road. And we all got to the house fairly quickly from that point on. See the previous three entries and the following two entries.

Title: A Party at Tom and Joyce's, 2 of 6
Caption: I took the group portrait early because it seemed to be getting dark and it started to rain. More people came later, and the rain stopped. Catherine (Murphy), in Tom's studio, tried to sit on a chair. She had a plate with a hot dog in it and had put her cane down. The chair was somewhat high and had wheels. Tom's floor is polished concrete and very smooth. The chair started to slide away and Catherine tried to guide it towards the wall. But it twisted and catapulted her to the floor face down. Luckily Dennis Cardone, our (Catherine's and mine) orthopedic doctor was also at the party. He ran right over, talked to Catherine, and figured out the best way for her to get up. She had a huge lump on her head, and the bridge of her nose was bleeding. He examined her face and also her replaced knees. He thought she seemed generally OK. Dennis was totally wonderful and we would have probably panicked if he hadn't been there. Kent Sepkowitz, also a doctor was helpful, as were Joyce Robins and Judy Linn. Everyone else was very supportive. Catherine handled the whole thing very stoically. We stayed at the party for about another hour. The next morning the lump had gone down quite a lot. But a lot of black and blue as well as a black thumb had appeared. We were talking about going to the emergency room when Dennis called to tell Catherine she should go to the hospital to make sure there wasn't a blood clot or broken bones. We were in the emergency room for four hours, but there weren't any broken bones or blood clots. - emails to me, Jul 22 (9 days ago): "Ouch! I'm making a beef burgundy for tomorrow's luncheon. I hope Cathy will be feeling better tomorrow. With all of our love, A & B July 22, 2017 Hi Harry, How is Catherine feeling today? That was the biggest bump I ever saw and I thought she was totally brave about the whole thing.
