Tao, Gary, Jeffrey, Catherine - at the MOMA NYC
-
Caption
-
We went to an event thrown by the Archives of American Art at Essex House Hotel on Tuesday evening. It seems that the original image file of this photograph is now lost. There were many other images from before and after this event stored on the same memory card that may also be irretrievable. The mistake occurred while moving the photographs from the camera to the folder for October 25, 2019. I was an IDIOT. I still have two images from that batch because I sent them to people and was able to retrieve them from email. I am PISSED! The day after the Archives event, Catherine (Murphy) and I went to see some art. We got in touch with Jeffery to ask if he could meet up with us. The only opening on his day was at tea time. So we arranged to meet at the Modern. After we had settled down for coffee and tea, Gary walked up behind us. He was in the Modern as well. Then a current student of Gary's, Tao, spotted Gary. So we all had beverages and visited.

Reading Room #3, Photo Book Works, Mariam Aziza Stephan, Julia Johnson, Beacon, NY. 4 of 4
-
Caption
-
We have known Mariam since Catherine (Murphy) was a visiting artist at UNC-Greensboro and the Weatherspoon some years ago. Miriam worked on a collaborative project with the poet Julia Johnson, which resulted in a book published by Photo Book Works in Beacon. Exhibited at Reading Room #3, were 12 drawings from a series of 100 that Mariam produced. Julia (who we hadn't met before) wrote poems about associations she saw in the drawings. No.3 Reading Room & Photo Book Works is owned and run by Paulette and David Rich (I may have something incorrectly here. I'm going to ask Paulette and David to correct me, if necessary). To the left of Mariam, one can get a glimpse of some of her drawings. And on the wall behind Allan is a partly blocked painting by David Rich. See the previous three entries.

David Cohen and Students

Catherine (Murphy) and I went down to the city so Catherine could get a haircut from Olivier and go to her galley, Peter Freeman. We also went around to see some shows. We, as we often do, drove around and took turns going in to see shows. At the David Hume exhibition, I ran into David Cohen, taking his students around to galleries. There might be more information added when I hear back from David.

Dinner at Mercato Osteria Enoteca, Red Hood, NY
-
Caption
-
We met Portia and Jared, and Ellen and Ron for dinner at Mercato. We had to sit in the front room because they haven't opened the back room for the evening. The front room is prettier, but much louder. Though, we did manage to keep up a lively conversation by adding to the volume of the room. Nobody else except for Catherine and I had been to Mercato before. Ron and Ellen live in Kent, Ct (for the summers), and Portia and Jared live in Catskill. It seemed like a reasonable distance for everybody as a place to eat. The food was basically good. I had the Orecchiette special, which tasted very good except for the sausage, either because it had gristle in it or because the casing was much too touch made it unpleasant to eat.
