Albert, Lynn, Bruce, Sukran

Caption

I had been meaning to go the Cabaret Voltaire Art Center to introduce myself to Sukran Aziz, who owns and runs the gallery and was also showing her work. She wrote me a note some time ago and I had been to the gallery, but not when she was there. We met and talked for a while. My plan was also to go and see Margaret Crenson's and Billy Name's work at Albert Shaninian Fine Art further down on Main Street (both in Poughkeepsie). I gave Sukran a ride to Albert's gallery and ran into Bruce and Lynn there.

On Saturday, Carole took us to Jack Lerner's Longhouse Preserve, to Billy Sullivan's exhibition at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, and to Robert Wilson's Water Mill Center. Then she brought me to a neighbor's house to play Ping Pong. In the evening, we headed off with Alex, Carole, Dalmi and Michael Halsband (in a separate car) to the opening at the Parrish. After breakfast, we headed home to Dutchess County.

Dean's Intellectual Buffet

Dinner at Alumni House, Vassar College. Once or twice a year there is an event at Vassar College called, The Dean's Intellectual Buffet. It consists of a panel of Vassar faculty brought together under the umbrella of a topic. This panel was called the Virtual Sandbox and was focused on teaching with technology, specific endeavors, intellectual and pedagogical results. The faculty give presentations followed by questions. After the questions everyone goes into the next room for drinks and a continuation of the various discussions that have ensued. Then a buffet dinner follows. Tom Ellman was a participant in the program. Pictured are my dinner table companions.
