From just a couple of friends (see last two entries) this gathering developed into a party for Cathy's (Catherine Murphy) birthday. I mad le Succes (a cake, dacqois from Julia Child's cook book, it came out the best yet, we've had trouble with it in the past being too chewy). We got candy, onion dip and liqour. It turned out t be a very nice party. It broke up around midnight.

Catherine and I had gone to the Farmer's Market in Rhinebeck (see last entry) We bought a large amount of wonderful produce and meat (from Fleishers). We decided to have a regular Sunday (usually we would have just worked all day ), by going for a ride and going to farm stands, etc. When we got home, continuing the Sunday theme, and having gotten all this great food in Rhinebeck, we called Jon and Joy to see if the were available to come over for dinner, they were. So we spent the next two hours cooking dinner, and they came over. The reason for the dramatic and somewhat formal photograph is: Joy brought over a photograph I took of them and had given them a print of, when they were visiting our apartment in Jersey City, NJ, around 1972, so we reenacted the pose. The photograph the pose is based on is in Visitors/1971-1974/Jon and Joy/Possibly 1972.

Caption: 2009-06-12 Jonathan and Joy Santlofer, Friday. We invited them for dinner. They came over on their way up to their house in Bangall. I was talking on the phone with Jon yesterday and he told me that Doria (their daughter) and her boyfriend had looked at my site for four hours and got a kick out of following Jon and joy over the years, taking note of Joys array of hair styles. We had appetizers at the pond. Jon was telling the story of Doria and her boyfriend looking at the site (this time the hours had shrunk to two), of how Doria went on and on about the captions, Jon and Joy coming over to feed the cats, us getting home early and making dinner for Jon and Joy, Jon coming over to get keys and Cathy made him a sandwich, Jon having a piece of cake, she was wondering if I had meant to be funny. Though she did think that the site was an amazing document. Did Jonathan actually use the word amazing - I can't be sure? Then we went on about me writing in this entry about Jon not liking rhubarb, but having two slices of the rhubarb tart. The chicken did come out great and Jon asked for the recipe the next day.

Catherine (Murphy) is doing a painting of Erik and Ilene Cooke, a hand making rabbit ears over a head. Erik and Jess were also on their way to pose for Jonathan Santlofer for phtographs for him to make drawings from for his the new book he is working on. Jess and Erik are moving to New Brunswick, New Jersey. Erik is starting graduate school at Rutgers University.
