Caption: Tim came over to do a couple of things. He primed the wall in Alec Levinson's apartment(the Apartment). We had a BBQ lunch (see next entry - Simone Totsky). Before lunch he packed the trash that was still in back of my summer studio to bring home to his dumpster. After lunch he worked with Simone and me reinstalling some of the sculptures the SS that were not done as yet after the exterminators came to treat the studio for powder post beatles and carpenter ants.

Caption: Simon came to work. The idea was to have Simon and Tim Liefer here at the same time (see last entry), so we could continue hanging the sculptures back up in the summer studio. Simon did some shoveling, did the trash, brought the barrel down to the curb, We all (Tim, Simon, Catherine and me),had a special lunch. When Catherine(Murphy) and I were in the city yesterday we stopped at Hill Country and bought BBQ chicken,ribs and brisket. We had that for lunch today along with potato salad and cole slaw from Adams Fairacre Farm. In the afternoon Tim, Simon and I reinstalled sculpture. Tim also gathered up all of the trach that was left over outside the summer studio from the exterminator's visit and took it home to his dumpster. After Tim left, Simon and I continued in there studio for a while and then left for school to cut a piece of wood to mount paper on for Catherine's new drawing. When we got home Catherine realized it was too small so we'll have to get some new wood to make a larger mount. We had about an hour left so Simon and I worked on my web site, Simon left 25 minutes ago and I am still working on the site.

Title: Stacy Torres
Caption: A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Stacy introducing herself and asking if there were any modeling jobs at Vassar. She had modeled in the past. In between she is a ship's captain. She emailed me because of my connection of Vassar, but I called her up to see if she would be interested in modeling for Cathy (Murphy). We had arranged for her to come over to our house to meet Cathy and talk about the possibilities on the 27th of January (see post Stacy Torres in Visitors). She called and left us a message that the bus she was taking to our house never came so she suggested rescheduling for another day. I called her back and said I could come and pick her up, which I did. On our way back here Stacy mentioned that she was only going to be in Poughkeepsie until early March at which time she would be getting her new commission to captain a ship. This meant that the modeling wouldn't work out because Cathy would be working on the painting for months after that. While talking Stacy said her sister might be interested in the modeling job, so we made a date for Stacy to come back with her sister Elisa in a couple of days (see post of Stacy and Elisa Torres). Stacy and Elisa both grew up in Poughkeepsie, but Stacy is away most of the time captaining ships.

Caption: That Evening I planned to go to a screening of three short films presented of Anton Vidokle's, "Citizens of the Cosmos". Molly Nesbit had invited Vidokle as a Claflin speaker to give a lecture the following night. Because of the screening Cathy (Murphy) and i were going to eat our dinner very early, so i asked Simon to come at 9:30 instead of 10am. There was a traffic accident around the corner so Simon got delayed until 9:45. Because Cathy had an appointment with Stacy and Elisa (see next entry) Simon went out to get us all lunch at Popeyes. Simon and I spent most of the afternoon working on the website.

Elisa seemed enthusiastic about the job, so we arranged for her to come back on Thursday the 8th of February, to start modeling for drawings for a new painting.

Title: Dinner Party at our house
Caption: This was our first dinner party since Cathy's knee infection, which means the last one we had was about three years ago. We served for an hors d'oeuvre's homemade gravlax with herb butter, capers, lemon, black bread, and gluten free bread for Elena. The first course was brussels sprouts and frisee salad (warm brussel sprouts cooked in butter, put on top of frisee and endive), Ossobuco over palenta (shown in photograph) with a gramelade (parsley,horse radish, orange zest, garlic), for desert we had Caramel oranges (from the new Christopher Kimball Milk Street Cookbook). None of the other couples had met each other before Sunday.

Caption: Simon also came to work on Friday, February 2nd, but i forgot to take his photograph. He went to Home depot and bought Astro Turf in order for Catherine (Murphy) to start sketches for a new painting. The model for this painting is coming on Thursday. We set up the table for a Dinner on Saturday. He also took photographs for a new sighting of one of the surveillance cameras outside. Today Simon came a over a little later this morning and helped us finish cleaning up from dinner last night (see last entry). Then we had lunch and brought the large table back to the garage, and brought back in the regular dining room table. Simon moved the surveillance camera to the new place and now we are working on the site.

Caption: A few days before this entry I called Chad at school (Vassar College) and asked him if he could come over and assess the technical situation with the surveillance cameras for Catherine's (Murphy) drawing. So he came over and went through the manual for the cameras and it's recording device, looked at the extender we installed. He came to the conclusion that we would need more equipment, that he would order and install.

Caption: When Simon first got here he did a lot of sanding since the driveway was pure ice. After which he went to Catskill Art and Office to get Turpentine for Catherine (Murphy) when he got back Simon and I had lunch. Catherine made curry tunafish. Then Simon sanded again for a while he drove Elisa Torres (see last entry) home. She had walked here and it seemed awfully cold to us. Now Simon and I are working on the website. First we tried to record my working in photoshop on China 1987: Not a Film, which worked out fine. Right now I am talking and Simon is typing.

Caption: Chad brought the new equipment he ordered with him. He used it to reroute the wifi signal through the wiring in the house so that we would get an uninterrupted signal upstairs into Cathy's studio so that she can work on the surveillance camera drawing.

He didn't put in the faucet because Catherine (Murphy) didn't like the one i brought home. It was the only one they had in stock.

Caption: On his way to work this morning, Simon went to Catskill Art & Office and Davie's Hardware to pick up supplies. Then after some regular chores, Simon and I went up to Catherine's (Murphy) studio to take down a theatrical light because the bulb has blown. It is now after lunch and we are working on what you are reading. Then Simon and I will try to do something for Catherine. Then we will work on my site some more and put something on Facebook and Instagram. After which Simon and Catherine will go on the internet to order some clothes for a model.

Caption: Simon got to work about 15 minutes late. When he cam in he said he was sorry for being late. I was elbow deep in ground almonds, running around making almond crescent cookies from Maida Heatter's Book of Great Desserts. Cathy (Catherine Murphy) and I had made these before but I had never made these on my own before. They are quite tricky. The dough, if one calls it that is a soft pile of spreading stuff. To make the into crescent shapes and dip them in eggs and then roll them in sliced almonds is tricky indeed. So when Simon walked in I had no idea of what time it was. Simon said to Cathy that I had looked like a mad baker. The cookies turned out to look like cookies. We didn't have enough for me to taste them. Something I was glass of since I didn't want to know ahead of time if they weren't right. The cookies were for dessert for dinner tomorrow night (see next entries, Dinner at our house). Simon did the usual things he does when he first gets to our house. He made coffee, took out the trash and recycling and brought water up from the basement. Cathy came downstairs and into the kitchen to work on more food for dinner tomorrow. In the meantime as the rest of the cookies were baking Simon and I had coffee and I made Cathy a cup of tea. Simon did some other things like go over the clothing and other stuff that he had ordered for Cathy for a model to wear in an upcoming painting and then bring them up back to Cathy's studio. Simon set up the computers on the porch to continue putting data on my chronicle site for a new area titled: Mother's Clothing, etc., by Eugene Carroll (more about this from time to time. Simon and I went up to Cathy's studio to change the light bulb and rehang the theater light for her new painting. After lunch Simon worked on Mother's Clothing, Cathy and I worked in the kitchen and soon I went off to do errands. When I got back here Cathy was preparing and cutting up artichokes for the artichoke and monk fish dish. Simon put Malonginite around the garden where tulips were starting to show. This was done so the deer wouldn't eat the tulips. Simon also put my gif of two self portraits (one from 1968 and one from 2018) on instagram, Facebook and Linked in. Somewhere in there Cathy and I also set the table. Joyce called to ask of Casimir could also come to dinner tomorrow night, which, of course, we said yes.

Caption: We have been trying to arrange a dinner here for a few weeks, First I had a cold/cough for about 8 weeks. At some point Cathy (Catherine Murphy) caught it. After rescheduling it seemed as if we were both over it and so Tom and Joyce could come to dinner. Tom has been ill so could not take a chance of getting a cold. We had also invited Eve and John and they were not that keen to possibly get colds as well. The day before Joyce called to see if Casimir could also be invited as he was coming up to visit them. Of course we said yes. In addition to Cas being an asset to any gathering we are very fond of him. For a few days Eve wasn't sure if the 17th would work for her because she was scheduled to go to CA. We would have rescheduled again but it turned out her knee was bothering her and she did not want to fly. I picked Eve and John up at the train station at close to 3:00PM. I needed to get a couple o things at Adams Fairacre Farms so I brought them with me. A bit after we got here we all settled on the porch for cheese and fruit and chicken Liver Mouse (from Raven and Boar Farm). At some point Eve left to take a walk. Tom, Joyce ands got here at 5:30PM. We put out, Tuna Tartar and rice crackers in the kitchen and also grazed on the food on the porch. For dinner we served, Brussel Sprout Salad, Monk Fish & Artichokes with Polenta (we usually make instant polenta but Cathy wanted to try the slow cooked kind, which we hadn't had for quite a while. It really made a difference in how much better it was). For dessert we had Cara Cara Oranges in Caramel and Almond Crescent Cookies. (see next two enties)

Title: Tim Leifer
Caption: Tim came over for a few reasons. First we looked at my cardboard models for my new sculptures. Tim and I talked about working on them together on his place and tried to figure out how much plywood we had to order and deliver to our shop. He also talked to Catherine (Murphy) about the design for an armrest for her new painting. When he left I realized I hadnt taken his photograph. I called him and asked how far away he was, he said about a mile. So i asked if he would come back and have his picture taken. Which he agreed to.
