The Corner Restaurant (Bard Dance), 1 of 2
-
Caption
-
Marta Renzi emailed us to ask if we wanted to go see a dance performance by the choreographer John Jasperse at Bard College. They got the tickets and we arranged to meet at The Corner for dinner. This is the restaurant and hotel that was bought and redesigned by Brice and Helen Marden about 3 or 4 years ago. We had dinner there not long after it opened and were disappointed by the food. The food last night was quite good. We were pleasantly surprised. We went to dinner quite early, at 5:30PM, so we could get to the performance on time. We saw Marta and Daniel at Catherine's book event at Rizzoli a few weeks ago. Daniel gave Catherine Time Will Clean the Carcass Bones, Selected and New Poems by Lucia Perillo. The work of John Jasperse's that we saw was "Within Between". We all were taken with it. See the following entry.

I couldn't think of what I wanted to do for my birthday and kept putting it off. On Sunday, I decided that at least Cathy and I should go out to dinner. Then I remembered that Christina Tenaglia would be at school putting up the sculpture show (can go into her taking my place). So then I invited Ralph and Elisabeth Cardonne Arlyck and Peter and Shawn (Shawn couldn't come), and Judy Dollenmeyer and Barbara Page. Formosa on Main Street in Poughkeepsie was my first choice, but they were closed on Tuesdays. I found Le Express on the internet, and it looked possibly promising, so we all went there. It was very good, and we will be going there again in the future. I had a good evening. I also couldn't think of what I wanted for a present. For the longest time, I have been thinking about getting a drone. I would use the drone would for taking group photographs. So, I am still thinking about that possibility. Hobby House in Poughkeepsie has a sign in the window that says, "Dronerama." Anyway, I may go there to look at them. See the following two entries.

Peter called yesterday and spoke with Catherine (Murphy). He asked if it was my birthday. I was impressed that he remembered, and I think we tried to do something together, possibly last year. He told Catherine they would like to take us to dinner. We had been wanted to do something with them for the last few years, and for one reason or another it didn't work out. I would run into them at school or at Adams (mostly Peter at Adams). So, we were free that weekend and wanted to arrange something soon. We settled on Market Street in Poughkeepsie, for that Friday. They did take us out to dinner which was so nice of them, and, as expected, had a very lively time. Luckily it was a loud restaurant anyway.

Le Petit Bistro, Rhinebeck NY

Caption

We met up for dinner in Rhinebeck. During dinner we discussed titles for this website and Joyce came up with, 'All of Us'. The food was pleasant but nothing extraordinary. One of my soft shell crabs was quite good the other had a tough shell. Tom thought his dinner was boring. Catherine had Veal Marsala, which she found pleasant. Joyce seemed to like her stew type of dish. It is a classic French restaurant and the menu pretty much stays the same year after year, even though they do have specials which still fit the profile of the restaurant closely. It is a small intimate restaurant, and very noisy, which bothered Joyce. They are in the process of expanding into the space next door which was, for many years, a newspaper and cigar store.

They were visiting Cathy in the hospital. Yesterday Catherine (Murphy) had a third surgery on the same knee. The first knee replacement on her right leg was in October, 2015. In December it was determined that there was an infection in the knee. This involved a procedure. In January the replacement was taken out and a concrete interim knee was put in. The surgery to remove the interim knee and put in a more permanent knee was last night. I (Harry Roseman) took photographs of the four others, and a nurse must have asked me if I would like if she took one of all of us, and I said fine, so there it is.

Gary and Suzanne went to see a concert at Bard. Liddie and Roger sat next to them and they struck up a conversation. When Liddie and Roger came into Panzur about an hour after we had gotten there, Gary and Suzanne waved them over to our table. We were all introduced and struck up a conversation. Suzanne offered them some food from our table so they could taste some of the offering because they had never been to Panzur. We had plenty of food because we ordered a lot of it. It turned out that their son in San Diego owned one of my China photographs given to him by Edith McKennen, who bought it from me and was (she is deceased) a mutual friend of mine and Cathy and the Christianfelds. We all continued to talk and they tasted some food and then the wait person seemed to think it was time she showed them to their table. See the following entry.

Joyce Robin's Opening, 1 of 5
-
Caption

Joyce's exhibition opening was from 5-7. I left school at about 3:10PM and headed home to pick up Cathy (Catherine Murphy). First I unset up for her painting in the back bedroom. Then at about 4:00PM we left to go to NYC for the opening. Traffic was so bad in the city that it took us three hours to get to the gallery. We arrived at 7:00PM. The bright spot was that we got a parking spot directly in front of the gallery. Cathy is still not up to walking very far (knee replacement). We stayed at the opening for about 45 minutes and headed back home. Joyce's show consisted of paintings and wall sculptures and looked terrific. See the following four entries.
