They had dinner with us— sauerkraut soup that tasted like my grandmother's cabbage soup. Then we went to the Alliance of Figurative Artists to hear a panel discussion. On this panel was Philip Pearlstein; painter, Theodore Reff; art historian and Lawrence Alloway; critic.

They came for dinner on the spur of the moment. We had veal rollatini, stuffed tomatoes, noodles, and salad. Veal is too expensive for us to buy (about $4:00 a pound), but we had some in the freezer that Fred had brought us from where he was working.

Joy went to the hospital on Saturday morning. She had been sick for four days. It turns out that she has anemic dysentery. She is at Hackensack Hospital. Jon came over for some company. He had intended to sleep at home but was getting sharp pains in his side, so we all figured it would be better if he slept over. He went home early Monday morning and later came back for dinner.

Donald is one of Cathy's (Catherine Murphy) dealer's at Fourcade Droll. He came over for dinner. We had scallops au natural, veal prince orloff, zucchini, broiled cherry tomatoes, green salad, orange bavarian cream. He looked at Cathy's new paintings, which he liked, and at my work. He suggested I finish some of the pieces I was working on before I went around to galleries.

Jon came over to pose for Cathy. He had lunch with us. Jon and I went shopping for groceries at Shop-rite, Advanced Health Foods, and Russo's fish market. Jon waited in the car while I ran into the Russo's. I couldn't find anyone in the store, so I helped myself to 1 lb of shrimp, put $3.00 on the register with a note on which I wrote 1 lb of shrimp.

They came over to see how Pansy was— On our (Cathy and me) way to the park, where I was doing a sculpture, and Cathy was making a painting, a little kitty cam up to us. She was starving and sickly. She was a calico, just the color kitten that Cathy had been wanting. I took her home by taxi. We took a bus to this park from where we live. I was locked out of our apartment, and the neighbor wasn't home. So I had to break our screen to get in. Then I went back to the park. When we got back home, the kitten had terrible diarrhea. We called Jon, and he took us to the veterinarian. The vet was horrible, hardly looked at her, gave her a shot in the neck, and said goodbye. On the way home, she threw up & kept meowing. At home, she shivered and couldn't stand up. We thought she was dying. We sat and watched her, and she took a nap. When she awoke, she was a bit better. We called Jon and Joy, and they came over. The four of us sat on the kitchen floor and watched Pansy (the name Cathy gave the kitten) for two hours. She would nap for ten minutes, have a nibble of chopped beef, nap again, and then repeat the process. She seemed to be reviving. By the next morning, she was much better.
