Event at Vassar celebrating time on the job
-
Caption
-
Every year there is an event that celebrates benchmarks in how long people have been working at Vassar. I am pretty sure the demarcations are in 5 year increments, so at each event the celebration would be for five years, ten years, fifteen years, etc of working at Vassar. The thing I like about this event, it is one of the rare times at Vassar when there is an event that crosses over all kinds of employees, staff, buildings and grounds, administrators, and faculty members. This event coincided with my being at Vassar for 35 years. Depending on how long you've been at Vassar you get to pick from an assortment of gifts I picked out a pair of binoculars that had a built in camera. It is now almost a year since this event and I haven't used it yet. It was the only thing that I could even contemplate picking.

Robert Mangold's Opening at Pace Gallery, NYC. 1 of 2
-
Caption
-
We ran into various people we knew at Bob's (Mangold) opening. I photographed some of them. Robert (Mangold) and Sylvia (Plimack Mangold) had openings on the same evening in different parts of the city. We got stuck in traffic and so couldn't make it to Sylvia's opening. But we did get to Bob's. The next day we went to see Sylvia's show at Alexander Bonin in its new space downtown. Earlier in the day, there was an intense rainstorm with flooding, and some of the streets in Manhattan were blocked off. Sylvia had called to tell us that the openings and dinner might be canceled. So, we didn't leave as early as we might have. That and the traffic are the reasons we didn't get to Sylvia's opening. See the previous entry.

Yale made a reservation for Catherine (Murphy) and me at The Study, but we decided to go home instead of staying over. I collected all of the place cards with everyone's name on them and had them in order by table. I got up from my seat to speak to somebody about something, and the waiter came and took them away. So, I scrambled to find them and did retrieve them, but they were out of order. I brought them home and now can't find them. All the names that I don't know will be revealed when the place cards turn up. See the previous two entries and the following four entries.
